Our professional development services focus on assessment literacy and on effective assessment strategies, which are critical to improving teaching and learning in standards-based classrooms. Administrators and teachers who are assessment literate understand and apply sound and balanced assessment practices at the district, school, and classroom level. 

Assessment literacy requires a fundamental knowledge and ability to use various forms of formative and summative assessments, including statewide tests, district benchmark or interim tests, and classroom assessments designed to measure learning and inform instructional decisions. Balancing the use of these formative and summative assessments provides all stakeholders, including students, with a clear picture of student learning and with the necessary information to shape instructional practices around this learning.

Other factors contribute to student achievement, from curriculum alignment with standards to analyzing data that measures the effectiveness of instructional strategies and determines how to best modify instruction. Our professional development programs focus on these factors as well.
